REI Co-op - Kindercone 25 Sleeping Bag - Kids'

Category: Sleeping Bags

This is cute mummy bag. It is thick and warm and we loved the colors. But...I didn't realize that the storage bag was attached making it difficult to make the bag compress down to a smaller package. We planned on using this bag for backpacking but we will have to send it back because of the size.

My 2 year old loves this new bag we got him. He was super warm both nights. Definitely love this bag! Get it!

Bought my 2 and 5 year old this bag. They both love it and it kept them nice and warm. Would def recommend.

So far, the bags have been adequate. We experienced a 40+ degree shift, with heavy rain and 50 deg. cold for 2 days, then super dry 90 deg. warmth for 3 days. Not one word of discontent or complaint from our 2 girls. The stuff sack is attached which is nice, the bags fold and fit very easily. We haven't had them long enough to speak of durability, but they do seem made well. 4 Stars.

Sleeping bag was great for 3 times using it with my 5 year old. Zipper stitching fell apart. The purchase of bag was made 15 months ago, so I was told by store I was on my own to repair or buy a new one. Great service and way to stand behind your products.

I bought four of these bags for my 5, 7, 10, 13 year olds. One of each color. We took these on a 5 night backpacking trio and everyone was comfortable and warm. We’ve slept in 42 degree weather and the kids were all warm.

Our grandson loved his new sleeping bag. It was warm and cozy, and he slept through the night. We are glad we got him his very own sleeping bag for special camping trips with us.

works perfectly for those chilly PNW nights camping in the cascades or in the coastal range/at the coast. my kids all stay warm & cozy! fun colors/prints and the attached stuff sack is perfection!

It was too tapered for us and did return it but it seemed warm enough for winter car camping around Seattle and the fabric seemed quite durable.

How many liters is this? I want to get a compression stuff sack for it but have no idea what size.

The attached stuff sack is approximately 18 liters. We recommend choosing an 18 to 20 liter compression sack to bring this bag to the lowest compression volume.

What is the recommendation for washing this bag since it’s not down? I have a Kindercone 30F that I bought for my daughter when she was 3 and who is now 11. It’s never been washed and is overdue. She says it’s too short now - she is 4’9”.

Is it ok to store the bag inside of its stuff sack (as it is not actually a compression sack)?

No, we recommend storing this bag in a large storage sack which you can find here:

This bag is rated to keep kids warm how does it do about keeping them cool when camping in the hotter climates?...

We don't recommend this sleeping bag for warm temperatures.

The description says "Distinct neck and hood drawcords are easy to identify by feel", but I only see one cord for the hood, the neck is elastic. Can you clarify?

Correct, there is only one draw cord. Thanks for bringing this information to our attention! We'll update the info on the site as soon as possible.

What is the liner design in the army cot green bag?

Good question. The liner on the Army cot green is small patches or merit badges artwork. This can be viewed by hovering over the picture with the zoom tool.

I am looking for the temperature rating on my kindercone 30 and I was wondering if these 2 products were similar?

The temperature rating on your REI Co-op Kindercone 30 is 30 degrees Fahrenheit; the temperature rating on this bag is 25 degrees so they are very similar.

Can I use this bag for a 2 1/2 year old child?

Your child can use the sleeping bag. However, keep in mind if the child does not fill up the internal space completely they may not stay as warm as intended.

Hi, What size compression sack would work for this sleeping bag? Want to take this on a multi day camping trip with the kids but the attached stuff sack still makes it rather large to lug around and it seems as tho a smaller compression sack could work.

We recommend going with a 30 liter compression sack for this sleeping bag.

Mary

Do all of the colors have the adjustable length? I’m not seeing it specifies in features.

Yes, all color options have adjustable lengths.

Annie

Hello! I am a 5’2 115 lb adult - is there any reason why I would want to get an “adult” sleeping bag instead of a kids one like this? It looks like I’d fit based on the specs.

You can use this kids sleeping bag if it appears to be appropriately sized.
