REI Co-op - Pike Street Trench Coat - Women's

Category: Women's Jackets

I recently purchased this jacket for a fall trip to Europe for a football game. The fit is perfect for layering without being oversized. The drawstring and inner zip pocket are nice details. The hood has a nice brim and the length in the back should ensure a dry backside. I also like the 2 way zipper. The downside-there is no elastic in the sleeves (as in the description) and the sleeves are a bit long. I think I can fix the sleeve length with a bit of Tenacious Tape. I can’t speak for the waterproofing yet of yet but based on other reviewers, I am confident I will stay dry.

I almost always wear a medium in jackets but this coat is too big. I plan to exchange for a small.

I feel pretty cool in this, as far as feeling cool in a raincoat goes. Doesn't have a sticky/ plasticky-feeling interior, like another name brand raincoat I had in the past. Love how it covers my assets as well!

The price was high for me. After debating this vs. Columbia brand with a third of this price, I decided to purchase this item. I’m happy to see the high quality details and the design. The end of sleeves have elastics embedded that blocks the long sleeves covering the entire hand. Highly recommended.

I was surprised how good looking this coat is. Looks like something that could have came from Burberry or Alexander Wang. The material is lightweight and the coating is matte. The coat is not rubbery looking like most designer raincoats. The size does run big. I’m size 0 or 25 in pants and got the XS. I could have gone with XXS if REI had made that size.

I was concerned with this jacket not being made out of breathable material. It is not lined- pretty minimalistic design. Pleasantly surprised how comfy and effective this jacket is. Lightweight, breathable and water proof. Only wore it 3 times so far, but today I got stuck in a torrential downpour ~ I arrived dry. Sleeves are a bit long. Hood comes down past forehead -used drawstring and hood stayed put. Very comfortable and waterproof. Planning on rolling it up and bringing on vacation..(size M...5'6")

I bought this jacket about a month ago. I’ve worn it in wind, light and steady rain. With this mornings rain I was surprised to find my shoulders wet - as water found its way through the jacket. I’m not sure if maybe this one is defective, but I was disappointed - as the wool sweater I had underneath doesn’t feel nice when wet.

I like the extra coverage in the back. Plain and utilitarian rain jacket. Runs a bit large. I ordered a medium and it has plenty of extra layering room. I could have made a small work but still chose medium. 5'7", 145lbs, 34 B chest, 28" waist.

This is a really awesome jacket. I bought it because I needed a new raincoat but wanted something that was light and easy to layer under. This jacket hit the mark! I wear a small and this slightly oversized without looking too big. Perfect for layering. It’s extremely lightweight and great for travel. I bought it for a trip to Ireland but fortunately and unfortunately it didn’t rain so I can’t vouch for its waterproofness. But overall pleased with product.

I bought this for my daughter to take to college in a town known for its wet, windy, weather and we are anticipating this coat to be a winner for her. She is tall with broad shoulders and the fit is perfect for her. Sleeves are not to short and the coat is long enough to cover her hips.

I love this jacket. The color (chocolate plum) is gorgeous. And the jacket actually keeps me dry! My only issue is that I would prefer the bottom to be roomier but I also have wider hips. I have the medium and that fits perfectly on top. I tried the large and was swimming in it so I stuck with the medium and utilize the double zipper for when I have to walk anywhere. For reference I am a 10/12.

This jacket has it all: packable, loaded with smart details, ample enough to allow for layering, and fashionable. I packed it for a trip to Europe last month, we had all sorts of weather and the coat kept me dry, warm, and trendy, without taking space in the suitcase!

I love this versatile jacket! I wear mine all year long: as a very soft, lightweight rain-proof shell in spring and autumn showers, as an awesome windbreaker on a boat in summer; as a fearless snowstorm protector over a down coat in winter. I've even worn it over two down coats in several blizzards. The hood can adjust shape and size to cover any hairstyle or hat, and can protect glasses from rain. Curved sleeve ends cover the backs of hands to keep skin and clothing dry, and can be slipped into or over gloves or cuffed back on dry days. Big outer pockets hold keys, dog treats, and other treasures, and an inner zip pocket keeps ID secure. The jacket is long, so thighs stay dry in windy rain, and a back vent allows for easy sitting on bleachers or in a car. (Pair with lightweight rain pants if you're working or hiking in heavy rain.) The waist can cinch for city style fashion and relax for farm chores. It looks great in any setting, and compacts to fit in a pack or purse, so it's really easy to take on any outing. REI's great product guarantee offers a replacement if your beloved jacket ever meets an untimely end, as mine did after a year of near-daily use on both coasts and encounters with blue paint, roses, and cows (they chew on anything!) My new jacket is ready for more adventures, as am I. Where will you take yours?

The medium fits perfectly. There is enough room to wear layers underneath. I wear a size 8 dress. Love the Chocolate Plum color.

It’s super light but totally blocks rain. Love the color and cut.

I purchased this raincoat for my semester in Norway (one of the the rainiest countries in the world) and it has been nothing but amazing. I have stayed dry and warm and the length is great. I sized up an can comfortably fit a sweater and a fleece jacket underneath it, and can even add a vest if I need it. It packs down really small and has come with me on many adventures, and even in the humidity it dries quickly. My only complaint is that sometimes my zipper is a little difficult to zip at the bottom. I haven't had a huge issue with it, but it is a little sticky.

Exceeded my expectations. I love the chocolate plum color and the style is very minimalist. Like others, I would recommend sizing down.

I tried two dozen times to get the zipper to go up, but it just stuck at the bottom. When it did suddenly go up, it didn't actually zip the zipper, but just slid up so the zipper below remained split open. Feels good. Lightweight. Nice style. Needs a zipper. I'll reorder the same thing in case this is just an isolated defect.

I bought this coat when I graduated from college 9 years ago. I wear it often as a jacket on its own or over other layers like fleece or a slim down jacket. It provides all the water and wind protection I need, even in a rainy city. It's still as good as new, and I still get compliments on it. My dad tells me he wants one for men every time he visits.

I was so excited to finally find a lightweight breathable long jacket that wasn’t just sporty looking. I loved the versatility of the dark brown color. It wasn’t until I got the jacket home and snapped it up all the way that I noticed how bad the construction looked especially in the area around the bottom snap. It seemed like the outer part of the snap and the inner part did not line up properly causing a gapping problem. Upon further inspection, I noticed the taped seams all along the bottom half of the front closure were all wavy and ruffled which really looked cheap. I tried to exchange it thinking it might just have been a problem with that one jacket but all the rest of the ones they had in the store were the same way. So, in addition to the fact that there is no liner of any kind and you see all of the taped construction on the inside of the jacket and there are similar higher quality jackets out there for the same price, I give this jacket a 2/10 for value. Some of the design aspects were nice, but it just did not come together well, especially in this price bracket.

Wore this coat the other day and saw the raindrops move off, perfect. But 10 minutes in and they were going through the coat and I was getting wet. Couldn’t be more disappointed.

I love this coat, long enough to not be too sporty but packable to stuff in a backpack. I think I’m fairly average size, ordered medium and roomy enough to layer but warm enough to be good for traveling to Scotland with the addition of sweaters and this coat. Love to multitask layers when packing.

This coat is great,. Love the color AND the length. Keeps me dry and it is pretty warm, obviously with a sweater or a cardigan required when it’s colder.

Great coat! The hood, sleeves and overall length provide great coverage. Very waterproof. Love the style! It's slightly big but I think it will be good to allow room to wear thicker clothes underneath.

I have been putting off getting a rain jacket because I haven’t found one that I like enough to commit to, but need a good rain jacket year round. I love the length and the look overall.

I wore this in a heavy downpour and stayed dry underneath

This rain coat had many of the features I was looking for, but some just didn’t work for me. I have long arms, but the sleeves were very long even on me. I would have preferred zip pockets instead of snap, which I found hard to close. The fabric buckled oddly under the arms. I returned this coat.

Bought this two weeks ago and it has been perfect for the rainy weather! keeps me dry and perfect size to add a light puffer underneath. Only downside is that I had it around a campfire once, washed it twice since and have yet to been able to get the smokey smell out. still a great coat though.

Attractive and practical. I chose this jacket largely because of its waterproof quality. This has not been tested yet but the hood seems cut well, with enough overhang to prevent rain from getting on face and glasses - but not so much that it will block view. Good, large zipper.

I purchased this jacket in preparation for a short trip to a very rainy city. We didn't want to spend three days stuck inside our hotel room. This jacket was perfect! We were still able to comfortably explore. I didn't have to carry around an umbrella due to the hood on this jacket. It's lightweight and perfect for layering. This jacket is perfect for use year-round since it's not heavyweight at all. Highly recommended!

This coat is exactly what I was looking for, and I am really happy with it. The length is great, it keeps the hood stays up well, the pockets are great, and it fits well with and without layers underneath. Two minor things I've found is that sometimes the zipper unzips from the bottom up slightly, and the sleeves sometimes allow water to drip in during heavy rain due to the lack of ability to tighten at the wrists (I have a waist length REI rain coat that does have this feature, which I find really helpful). I would still definitely buy this again.

I like its longer length. Though it’s a casual raincoat, it seems a bit dressier, less sporty. It doesn’t really breathe at all, so keep that in mind.

Love this trench coat. It is lightweight, simply styled but chic. It is something you can pull out of your closet quickly on any day.

I like this raincoat for 3 reasons: 1) it has a hood 2) its long so covers alot and 3) there isn't any scratchy.

I absolutely love this jacket! I get a ton of compliments on it. It keeps the wind and rain out, has a cinch around the waist to help give it some shape, and has a zippered pocket on the inside. It also doesn't "feel" like a rain jacket. Highly recommended!

Seriously, not waterproof in the slightest. I bought this specifically because I needed a lightweight rain jacket. Unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to wear it in the rain until it was too late to return, now stuck with a useless shell of a coat.

This coat is perfect for traveling as well as a town jacket. It is stylish, has an easy to use zipper, and front snaps, adjustable hood, and an internal zip pocket big enough to fit a cell phone and/or passport. Great coat!

I love it. Fits perfectly ! I like the longer length in the back and the curve on the sleeve over ones hand.

I've been searching for what feels like forever for a rain jacket that is:

I got the XL so i could wear down under. Its perfect. Would like velcro tightenrrs at sleeves, tho, then would be perfect.

Overall the jacket is lightweight and adds a sense of style to

I'm 5'11" and wear a size 12 - and this jacket is PERFECT. The length friends, the length. The sleeves are perfect for me. Also, the hood is spacious. I think it looks like those fancy Arcteryx rain jackets but with a much better price.

This jacket is really confortable, lightweight and fashionable. It runs pretty large. I usually get a medium in jackets to allow for clothes underneath but this one I got a small and I may have been able to get an xs. The arm length is crazy long! I have long-ish arms and the sleeves go all the way to my knuckles when stretched out. It's not horrible but annoying to have to pull them up constantly.

Compared this to another well-regarded brand; here are the plusses. Twill tape reinforced placket, snaps mounted inside placket for smooth finish, generous storm flap, stylish kick-pleat, reinforcement of bill and adjustable elastic cord will keep it horizontal, cuff and hem finished with an edge to shed rain. Construction and materials appear to be excellent.

This rain jacket is exactly what I was looking for. It is lightweight so you can layer under accordingly. I originally got the medium but decided to go for the large because I found the medium didn’t allow enough space for my Patagonia fleece underneath. I am 5’5, 145 lbs.

I absolutely love the length. This jacket is very lightweight and perfect to stow in a backpack or suitcase for travel. Runs a little big though. I am 5'2" and ordered a size S, and the sleeves a little long. I could have sized down but I like to wear my jackets a little baggy for layering. I have only worn it a few times, hoping this will last.

I imagine this jacket would look cute on the right body shape, but as a very petite 5’ slim woman, the XS was huge—most obviously in the arms. The waist also sat very low on me, nearly on my hips, so that looked funny too. The build of the jacket seems nice and is very lightweight so great for travel I imagine.

I love this trench coat. Looks nice, fits great with enough room for a bulky sweater underneath. No frills, very functional. Nice big hood. Very well made and definitely waterproof. I am 5’5”, 138lb and the medium fits great. It’s not lined but I like that it’s not bulky and is easy packed into small places.

Fabulous coat! I am 5'5 and typically wear a Large or XL in coats. The Large was great. It was not baggy. It is very is a very classy cut. It felt appropriate to wear to casually or a more professional setting. I like that the sleeves are longer at the top of the hand.

Can you supply the garment measurements for a size large and extra large? Thanks

Does the jacket have a front two way zipper?

Yes, this jacket does have a 2-way zipper.

Is the sage gray more sage (greenish) or gray?

Sage gray does have a green hue.

Will this jacket be hot in very high humidity? Do you have others you can recommend for extremely high humidity  areas?

This jacket is made of a waterproof breathable material, but it is not ideal for hot and humid conditions. We recommend choosing a rain jacket with pit-zips or core vents for warm rainy days.

How many pockets does this jacket have and are any of them water-tight enough to store a phone during inclement weather?

Good question! This coat has two external pockets with flap closures and 1 zippered pocket on the interior. The flaps on the outside pockets will keep the elements out but are not truly water tight, so the best bet may be to store your phone on the interior.

How much does this jacket weigh please?

This jacket weighs 13 ounces.

Does the waterproof lining have any history of peeling off? I have had 2 different jackets from 2 different -- highly reputable -- makers in which the lining peeled off. Super frustrating! The jackets have been used normally and washed with TechWash.

This coat does not have a history of delaminating. To clean the Pike Street Trench Coat, we recommend washing this garment in cold water with an additive-free detergent, rinsing thoroughly without wringing or twisting and then lay flat to dry or line dry for the best results.

Will this jacket still be available for purchase in the spring? I can't justify spending that much when its not really raincoat weather out but once spring hits I'll probably pull the trigger. You all aren't planning on discontinuing it anytime soon?

As of December 2018, we plan on carrying this jacket at least through mid-winter.

What’s the hydrostatic rating on this jacket?

We do not provide waterproof ratings on our jackets because there is not an industry-wide standard for hydrostatic pressure tests. We consider any rainwear fabric with a rating of 3 psi (2,112mm) or higher to be rainproof, even if exposed to wind-driven rain. For more information about how rainwear works, we encourage you to view the link below:

I'm looking for a similar coat that has (1) length past the seat and (2) acceptable for work in style. The former is more important than the latter. But I really want a 3-layer coat, not a 2.5-layer. Do you make one?

We're not sure what is work appropriate for your employer, however, both the REI Drypoint and Stormbolt GTX jackets are both great 3 layer options. As of December 2018, we don't offer a longer option with similar construction.

How warm is this Pike St Trenchcoat jacket??

We don't provide temperature ratings on clothing because warmth depends on many different variables including activity level, metabolism, perspiration as well as the other clothing layers you are wearing.

Soccer Mom

Yes, this trench coat is an excellent choice for layering over an insulated parka.

Is the zipper two way ?

Yes, this jacket features a 2-way zipper.

The hood looks kind of shallow for the photo. How much coverage does the hood provide? For example. I live in Portland where it rains often and am looking for a big enough hood that my face doesn't get wet on my 5 mile walk home.

The hood on this coat provides full coverage for your head. However, in windy conditions your face may get wet from the rain.

Is this coat packable, can it be rolled up into one pocket for packing?

This jacket can be rolled up for packing. However, it does not stow into its own pocket.

I just want to make sure this is fully waterproof and not simply water resitant
