I am VERY new to hiking, so was a bit worried about carrying loaded down pack. From the first try-on and fitting in the store, it was comfortable. Just completed an 8-mile hike with about 25lbs, and it was comfortable throughout the day. Lots of room and pockets.
This pack has become my best friend! I have been training for a mountaineering trip and this has become my friend through many difficult hikes! It balances the weight really well, Carried 60 pounds about 12 miles straight up! This pack delivers! Love the pockets everywhere! Everything has been well thought out in the design! I love this thing! If you are hesitant about the price, go for it! It’s totally worth it!
After trying several backpacks I Decided to get this because of the hip belt. It was important that my lower back didn't hurt since I fractured 4 of my vertebrae in my lower back. Over Thanksgiving I went to Red River Gorge for 3 nights, 4 days backpacking on the Sheltowee Trace Trail. My back didn't hurt once! It was the first time for me to use an internal frame pack. I absolutely loved having all the room and I had enough room even with a big bear can and water. Once the pack was on, and adjusted correctly, it felt light and moved with my body. I love how I could open it like a suit case instead of digging through the top to find things. I'll never go back to an external pack again. I will say Gregory's customer service is fantastic when I had issues trying to register the product.
i bought a marked-down closeout of this pack on sale online but it didn't get to me in time and so i had to go into the store and buy this full-priced pack. I'm glad i did because the salesperson really knew his stuff and measured me, and i needed a small frame and not the medium that i had bought! He helped me by putting weight into the pack, showing me how to best pack it, and showed me how to make adjustments including installing or removing the lumbar insert which i wouldn't have even known was there.
I'm 5'5" at about 132-134.
I like the way it opens like a duffel bag and not just accessible from the top only.
would have liked another zippered pocket on the outside and not just on the top. Also in an older model that i have i was able to carry my tent poles on the outside of the pack and i have to figure out another way to do that because the water bottle holder is now at an angle to better access your water bottle.
There is a bottom compartment for your sleeping bag but there is also room to stuff things around it.
It's comfortable and i'm happy with it.
This was my first attempt at backpacking, a one night trip and I found this backpack comfortable and easy to use. I am very pleased with this style of backpack. It is big enough to hold everything I needed for my backpacking experience.
